The 2019-2020 features ARHA’s second season using the Hockey Canada Initiation Program. The results have been terrific. Players have a lot more contact with the puck instead of chasing it all over the ice. Half team plays a game on half the ice while the other half gets weekly skills. Then they switch.
The program is run by our IP Coordinator Grant Richmond, and his crew of high school trainers under the oversight of our Volunteer Director of Referees and Discipline, Nathaniel Epstein.
Grant is new to the role this year but has a long history with the league, including playing on the ’97 Select squad and serving as a referee when he was in high school. Grant is a grad of Brock’s Sports Management program and works for Tennis Canada full-time when not helping run ARHA’s Sunday IP program.
